Climate Activism Through Art

Sinking Nola is a platform with the goal of raising awareness for the reality of climate change in New Orleans. We partnered with young local artists to display climate-related pieces as well as providing information about its impacts to our city. We wanted to combine our passions for art and climate awareness to do something for the city we grew up in. It is a terrifying reality that our hometown could very likely not exist in 100 years. Students like us felt similarly, so we wanted to create a platform where they can share their concerns through art. On this site, you can view works, catch up on your climate literacy and how it specifically affects New Orleans, and find ways you can protect our city both individually and through donation and volunteering to local organizations.

Sinking Nola was created by Simone Wuttke and Ben Verlander. Simone is a freshman at Dartmouth College and Ben is a sophomore at Duke University. If you are interested in submitting any pieces you can contact us at
